Are you fit to sail?

No I don’t mean can you sail or that you are a bad sailor or anything like that.

Simply put, are you fit enough to go sailing, or whatever it is you do, and get the best out life?

Those who know me are aware I slipped a couple of discs in my back in 2015 and as a result its left me with aches and pains.  I realised recently that something had to change and then I saw this Inspire Me call for volunteers to blog and help inspire others.

I don’t really see myself as inspiring.  I am no great athlete or indeed sailor –  I am not in great shape really,  just an ordinary bloke who is approaching 65 and wants to keep sailing with good friends at Rutland Civil Service Sailing Club.  My yard stick is being able to duck under that boom you can see me leaning, pivot on feet and move to the other side of the boat, working on the deck – bending over etc. I am sure you get the picture.

Using my CSSC membership has really made a difference and I am about to disappear to the gym, thanks to a big discount using my membership, to my routine and then go for a swim – I started at 10 lengths and now up to 40 – half a mile.  My target is 80 (one mile) – watch this spire.

If you are looking for a bit of inspiration why not  check out Inspire Me 2018  at CSSC

If you fancy as sail, why not join us for a sail – you’ll be made welcome and be in good hands.
