The Sailing season is almost upon on us  …….  honestly and yes I know snow is forecast again this coming weekend.

If I want to sail,  I do need to be reasonably fit and particular duck under that boom I am leaning on in the picture and more.  I need to be able to move about the boat, hop on and off the pontoon, haul a halyard and get down on my knees on the foredeck, twist and turn ………. and get up again.  You do not need to be super fit, but its good to know you can move when you need to.

When it comes to kick starting a healthier lifestyle, a little inspiration goes a long way.

In January I joined a gym – getting savings from CSSC membership of course and shortly afterwards was approached by CSSC to write an Inspire Me blog about six weeks in the gym.  I am about to send it week 5 blog.

To be honest, I am not super fit, going to run a marathon but I do enjoy my sailing and walking – so its important to keep myself reasonably fit.

If you are looking for some inspiration you might find these stories from ordinary CSSC members give you some ideas.  Go on Get Inspired for 2018

Well that went quite quick – six weeks of blogging for CSSC Inspire me project about my experience at the gym etc – which I signed up to this year with a view to getting fit for sailing. Not everything went the way I expected and I had some surprising and inspiring things happen I never expected. There are lots of folks at the gym all ages and sizes and I have found its a really friendly and welcoming place – no one judging anyone and very encouraging.

Looking forward now to getting back on a boat!
