Let’s Go Sailing Keelboats

On Friday the 20th August I realised the weather for Saturday was far from ideal for a Sailing Taster day – little wind, lots of rain – not ideal at all! I needed to slip from 21 August 21 to Sunday 22 August due to poor weather conditions.

I’m an early riser and was up watching the news and the weather by 06:00. By 07:41 I sent out the call to all the members who had volunteered for the 21st asking for volunteers to slip to 22nd. By 08:15 I had a full contingent to enable me to press on.

All I had to was contact the three CSSC taster guests with a call later in the morning. First call, to Gerald and Karin and it was a yes from them. They travelled from Worcester and we had a good few hours on the water. Photos to follow, courtesy of Marc our PR Officer.

Unfortunately, Julie was fully committed and was able to slip. Checking the club booking and my diary, I was able to offer the following Saturday 28th and so it was offered and accepted.

Pete Shuttleworth, RCSSC founder in 2003 and now living back home in Yorkshire, was down for Friday and Saturday and I was looking forward to sailing with him.

I sent out another email for volunteers to help out with our CSSC taster and so it was that five members and one guest, sailed three boats.

3,100 acres – we gave it a good go!
