Wednesday Sail

What a grand sail today. Five RCCSSC members and some special guests of John Cranwell Ward, gathered to sail a Squib: Lift Off and Soling: Time Flies.

A family sail with Grandad John Cranwell Ward and Mike Threadgill

The special sailing guests were John’s granddaughter and grandson, accompanied by Dad. The sailed on board Time Flies and even though she is only 9, J showed great talent at helming and wind awareness – a natural. Her younger brother was along for the ride, but we can guess he’ll be back and want his turn before too long. All too soon, it was time for them to head home – we look forward to you all joining us again.

Time Flies being pursued by Lift Off

Eric, Mark and Dave sailed on Lift Off in the morning and enjoyed sailing in company with Time Flies and her crew.

All change in the afternoon and Mark and Mike took out Lift Off and Eric and Dave Time Flies. Pardon the pun but time does fly when sailing on Rutland Water, with just a few boats in sight and enjoying a sail.

Lift Off shows off her paces – Mark Gadd helming and Mike Threadgill crew

Meanwhile, Eric got some more helm time on Time Flies as did Dave Grundy – cracking sailing.

About Dave Grundy

Joined RCSSC after over 25 years gap from sailing offshore and dinghies. I quickly got involved and became the Sailing Secretary, later the Treasurer and for three years RCSSC Club Commodore ( Now title is Club Captain) So glad I found RCSSC.
