A few of the club members led by John have been preparing the Soling and the Squibs for the summer sailing season at the club. This involved: removing the winter covers, masts retrieved from storage & washed, Windex’s re-attached, masts stepped, rigging re-attached taped & checked for correct tensions, tonneau covers fitted.

On 31st March it is planned to return to the club to jet wash the Squibs & trailers, wash the interior, inflate the tyres, grease the wheel bearing, inflate the buoyancy bags.
Tim Litt will also sand down and repaint the Squib keels and touch up areas affected by paint peeling on the Soling & Lift Off.

All this work will ensure all three boats will be available for sailing from Tuesday April 1st.

John and Mike attended the club to recommission the Soling & prepare her for the 2025 season. Fortunately it was a lovely day 17.5C because the Soling looked very sorry for herself with green algae all over the trailer.

The Winter cover removed, boat moved to outside the Bosuns hut, hub caps removed & wheel bearings greased with pressure gun, tyres inflated, trailer scrubbed & jet washed, boat scrubbed & jet washed, mast washed, cockpit area washed, boat bailed out.

We noticed blistering of the paint underneath the hull & so these areas once again will need sanding down & re-painting.

The club AGM was well attended with most coming early to have lunch together at the club. Peter Shuttleworth congratulated John Cranwell Ward and David Grundy on the work they have done over many years for the CSSC and presented each of them with a Long Service Award Certificate.
