It’s not often you catch John Cranwell Ward or Dave Grundy out, but both were rather pleasantly surprised at RCSSC AGM in December 2017.
Dave Grundy has developed close links with the CSSC working with Jenny Yarrow Events Coordinator (Sailing Tasters and Trips) and Michelle Chelu Area Volunteer Support and invited them to attend the AGM and meet the members. When it was suggested that Hedley, CSSC Volunteer Manager, would also like to attend we just thought, the more the merrier. The plan being for Michelle to give the members an update on CSSC membership benefits available.
It was a surprise therefore, when Hedley stood up quickly at the end of her talk and started speaking about CSSC – which proved to be very interesting, especially hearing about the pedigree CSSC has from long ago!
It was even more surprise when he asked John and then Dave to come forward and presented them both with their certificates.
Congratulations to John Cranwell Ward and Dave Grundy who were both presented with a Certificate of Recognition by Hedley Featherstone CSSC Volunteer Support Manager, on behalf of the Simon Lee, Chief Executive of CSSC, for their invaluable voluntary contribution to the CSSC through their work with helping build and develop Rutland Civil Service Sailing Club (RCSSC) over the years.
This was a complete and very pleasant surprise for both of them.
The images below show John and Dave receiving their certificates and copy of John’s certificate (Dave’s is the same apart from the name) – big smiles!
A very pleasant surprise indeed!
